When to request boundary determination and marking

Boundary marking (amojonamiento) is common before building a fence, starting construction, buying a lot, resolving questions with neighbors, or verifying whether a party wall matches the legal boundaries.

Difference between boundary determination and boundary marking

A boundary determination (deslinde) identifies parcel boundaries from records and measurements. Boundary marking marks those boundaries on the land using markers, reference marks, or recognizable points.

Problems it can help prevent

A misunderstood boundary can lead to disputes, demolitions, claims, or unnecessary costs. Measuring before building or enclosing land reduces uncertainty and provides a technical basis for decisions.

Areas we commonly serve
